Elliot & Cade's World

More Cade-isms

This kid keeps us in stitches! He also wears me out! He’s moody, prone to hitting and biting, and a ball of constant energy…but he’s also sweet and very funny. All of these Cade-isms are quotes from yesterday. I thought I’d keep track of just one days worth of things he says or does. I’m certain I didn’t get them all down, but here’s just a few of examples of what it’s like to live with Cade in our world:

**********************************

We had Cade’s preschool physical yesterday morning, which included a lead screening. This involved the nurse pricking his finger for a few drops of blood. He didn’t cry. He was actually quite compliant and patient for the entire process. Clearly, though, he thought about what had happened to him and confronted the nurse before we left the office. She was doing the necessary paperwork at a desk when he walks over to her and says in a very serious tone:

“Hey…you hurt me…and you not ever gonna do that again!”

**********************************

Later at home, he managed to procure one of my bras laying about the house. He proceeds to put his arms through the straps and run wildly throughout the house shouting (in his best ‘girly’ voice):

“Look at my boobies! See my boobies? Look at my boobies!”

Um, yeah. What do I do with that?

**********************************

We always have a struggle with him at dinner time. Last night was no exception. I placed a lovely dinner of barbecue pork chops, baked apples and mashed potatoes in front of him. He looked me square in the eye and says:

“If I taste this dinner, I will throw up”

**********************************

Elliot (aka: Bubba), being at that age, has a few loose teeth. Cade is fascinated by this. He tells me several times yesterday:

“Mommy, Bubba has shaky teeth. Does Bubba have shaky teeth? Mommy! Bubba shaked hims teeth!”

I love how this information is delivered to me every time as if it’s breaking news.

**********************************

As the day draws to an end, like any other mommy, I’m tired. So, after dinner, I got cozy on the couch for a little break while the boys played on their own. Cade was apparently offended that my eyelids became heavy. He comes up to me, gets directly in my face and with his thumb, proceeds to lift my eyelids saying:

“Open your eyes Mommy! You better opened them right now! Eyes opened…or I’m calling Daddy!”

Geez.

Cade-isms….

Daddy was on his way out this morning…

Cade: Where ya going Daddy?

Daddy: To my meeting.

Cade: I have a meeting today too.

Daddy: Oh? You have a mastermind meeting?

Cade: No. I have a TOY meeting!

Finishing up bath time:

Cade: Mommy, I love you.

Mommy: I love you too Cade.

Cade: I’m soooo happy about you, Mommy!

Mommy: Why?

Cade: Because I get lunch, and dinner and lunch and even waffles.

Good to know my efforts are appreciated.

Snack time…

Elliot: Mom, can we have a snack?

Mom: Sure, but please pick something you can get yourself.

Elliot: OK. Come on Cade. [walking toward the kitchen] So, Cade, what do you want for a snack?

Cade: I want chicken. [pause] No. I want THREE chickens!

Elliot: Chicken? You can’t have chicken.

Cade: Then I want NOTHING!

The kid knows what he wants…

Jiggy Jezus

A little conversation with my three year old:

Cade: Mommy, put your coffee down and give me a hug.

Mom: OK [hug]

Cade: I need a kiss too! [kiss]

Mom’s aware she’s being buttered up for something…just not sure what just yet

Cade: I’s thinkin’ about my birfday… [here it comes] I wanna have it at Jiggy Jezus

Huh?

Elliot: [noticing the look of confusion on Mom's face and the need for translation] He means Chuck E. Cheeses…

Um, his birthday isn’t until September!
